Art as Inspiration Friday.
By Charleston artist Mary Whyte. The use of light, the satisfaction, the silence, the steam coming from the orin in the water color inspired two characters in my novel, Clabber Don and Lila.

Literary Agent Pitch
This past weekend, I earned a slot to pitch to a literary agent, a fantastic next step in the publishing process. I believe in paying my dues and taking all the next steps. Great encounter. Part of the panel discussion included this: the novel I write five years from now won't be anything like the first novel I've written. Progress.
Post conference update: The agent I pitched to at the writers conference stated she expects a novel a year for the first five years from her new clients.

Deep South magazine summer reading list
If you're on your way to the porch, beach: deepsouthmag.com/2012/05/2012-summer-reading-list/
My pick is probably the Bondurant work, near the bottom. 'shine holds mystery in its clarity.
